The 100 cc bikes form a considerable majority of all the two wheelers running on the Indian roads. These bikes are well suitable for just getting you from one place to other and hence the adventurous lot might find them rather boring.
However there are many buyers, old and young alike for these simple machines in the bike market. The Bajaj Discover 100T and Honda Dream Yuga both are popular entry level 100 cc commuter bikes. They areall same, yetboth carry their unique charm.

Look wise there is nothing out of the ordinary about both the bikes. Yet in comparison, Bajaj has designed its bike more aggressively and Dream Yuga here looks rather bland. Dream Yuga has struck a universally acceptable traditional design while Bajaj’s headlight cowl, fuel tank and exhaust designs are slightly more contemporary. Bajaj Discover has a better choice of colours as well.
The Bajaj Discover 100T is powered by a 102 cc single-cylinder, air-cooled, twin-spark carburetor engine with DC ignition. The engine is mated to a 5 speed chain drive transmission gear box. It churns out a maximum power of 10 bhp and torque of 9 Nm. This engine offers the power of a 125 cc motorcycle with the efficiency of a 100 cc one.
Dream Yuga has an upgraded engine that promises smooth ride and high fuel efficiency. A 109cc, air cooled, four strokes, 2 valves, SI engine with OHC runs the Dream Yuga. This smart engine is mated to a four speed manual gear box with all gear up-shift model. It produces a maximum power of 8.2 bhp and a maximum torque of 8.63 Nm.
Discover 100T can reach the 0 to 60 kmph mark in just 7.7 seconds and Dream Yuga follows closely at 8 seconds. The top speed of Discover is only 87 kmph whereas this is more in Dream Yuga at 95 kmph. However the lack of a fifth gear is felt in Dream Yuga at times especially while riding in high speeds.
Discover 100T offers slightly lower mileage of 56 kmpl only compared to Dream Yuga which yields an impressive mileage of 74 kmpl on an average. But this factor largely depends on the road conditions and riding and handling style of the user.
Dream Yuga is much lighter compared to all other bikes in this segment. Yet Discover scores more when it comes to comfort, ride and handling. Both the bikes have well responsive drum brakes in front as well as rear. But the option of disc brakes is provided only in Bajaj Discover 100T.
Honda Dream Yuga is available at Rs 45000 while Bajaj Discover 100T is slightly pricier at Rs 49000.
